It needs to work in the lift car, connect reliably to the nominated response point and remain suitable for the building’s lift type, usage and maintenance requirements. The best option is rarely the cheapest unit on a quotation. It is the system that gives occupants a dependable way to call for assistance and gives the building team confidence that it is being monitored and maintained properly.

What a commercial lift phone system needs to do

At its core, a lift phone must enable two-way emergency communication between a passenger and a person or service capable of arranging assistance. This sounds straightforward, but real performance depends on several connected factors: the quality of the communication device, the phone service it relies on, lift car coverage, the response process and ongoing testing.

For a busy office tower, shopping centre, hospital, aged care facility or industrial site, call handling matters as much as the equipment itself. A caller should reach a trained contact who can identify the building and lift location, speak calmly with the passenger and initiate the correct response. If a call lands on an unattended reception desk after hours, the system may technically dial out but fail when it is needed most.
